WSOP: Men Nguyen grabs 7th Bracelet

Men Nguyen grabs his 7^th bracelet of his career when he ruled event number 10 (7-Card Stud World Championship) at the WSOP this year. This puts him on the 6^th all-time tie joining the ranks of Phil Ivey and Billy Baxter.

Nyuyen takes home $394, 800 for this win after an exciting heads up match with Brandon Adams. Everyone thought that there will be a rematch between Vladimir Schmelev and Michael Mizrachi who faced off a week earlier.

Nguyen was able to steal the show with his fearlessness and at one point of the game, playing without even looking at the cards.

Nguyen was even overheard talking to Adams saying he already got six bracelets, and Adams will be famous if he beats the Master on their heads-up match.

Both players agreed to put everything in blind with Adams having a low stack, so they watched the cards on the table helplessly.

Adams was able to get (A-spade, 3-Diamond) Q-hearts,Q-clubs, 5-spades, 4-clubs, (9-diamond).

Nguyen got (9-spades, 6-diamonds), 10-Spades, K-clubs, J-diamonds, 6 clubs.

Nguyen wanted his last card facing down. Everyone held their breath as The Master took a look. Queen will serve Nguyen a straight while a King will give him a more superior pair. It was King! K-diamond was turned over. Really a nice way to win the 7^th bracelet. Classic.

Gus Hansen is the star – Howard beats Twan Le

Twan Le and Gus Hansen both make a full house. Twan KNOWS Howard Lederer is hugely strong here and Gus Hansen is sickened by the somewhat weak comments on Twan.

Poker After Dark – Helmuth Bash Cash Game

Watching the latest “Poker After Dark” episodes of the Helmuth Bash Cash Game, makes you wonder who is the better cash game player. Phil Helmuth and Tom “Durrr” Dwan face each other a few times, Bob Safai has a go and then Phil Laak seems to be all over the place.

Whenever Dwan is at the table, he seems to rattle the players a bit and they don’t play normal poker – that’s because Dwan has an ultra aggressive style that is often not out of a poker strategy book. Laak plays a few crazy hands and does things that he wouldn’t normally do, he gets real lucky to take a hand from Dwan with bottom pair. Even he admits that he is a Donkey in this game!

One thing about “Durrrr” is that despite his aggressive style, he still reads the situation very well. The way he gets out of a hand against Helmuth, who flops a flush, makes you realize he is very aware. Perhaps Helmuth’s bet on the turn was too high and he could have waited until the river to bet, but still the way Dwan just got out immediately was impressive! Read any good casino winning strategies and they will always tell you to be aware of your situation, to hold or fold where necessary.

Tom “Durrr” Dwan vs Phil Hellmuth – Poker After Dark

My main man Phil Hellmuth and online poker genius Tom “Durrr” Dwan play a huge hand in which I believe Durrr was calling when a blank hit the river (yet we’ll never know). The diamond was too dangerous, and Phil kind of got lucky there.
