This is when he literally struck gold, winning a whopping twelve million dollars, the biggest pot in poker history. This success catapulted him into the big league and made him the favorite of poker enthusiasts.

It is quite hard to believe that this professional poker player was actually a talent agent after he had completed his bachelor’s degree from the University of New York. He set up his own talent agency by the name JMG Management, at a young age of 21. His company was doing business related to poker and it was during this period of time that he got acquainted with the famous poker player, Johnny Chan. He gave Gold valuable tips about poker and the business of poker, which ignited the passion for the game in him.

He honed his poker skills through constant practice at a casino near his Los Angeles home. He had also gone through scores of poker books, which helped him sharpen his strategic skills. The poker bug was running in his family, with his mother and his grandfather being active poker enthusiasts. The support of his family was instrumental in Jamie Gold turning a professional poker player.
